The Bantam Trek books were also my first exposure to fanfiction in my case it was around 1980 when I came across some in a used book sale.
This is a list for fanfics, but here is a good source for fiction. This isn't a fanfic site, but they have a lot of fiction.

To name a few, I've downloaded the works of Jules Verne's, H.G. Wells, Mary Shelley's and Sir Arthur Conon Doyle's along with many others works of fiction and non-fiction.
In general you will only find older material written before copyright laws went insane.
