A moment of contemplation showed that canibalism as a nutrition requirement to be a myth. If there wasn't enough meat in their diets, then there wouldn't be enough to feed up the humans they were eating.
That doesn't mean that the mesoamericans did not practice cannibalism, just that they didn't have a good reason to do so.
