"You have to help me seal all the Jewel Seeds before they reek havoc, please, you're the only one with the magic needed to operate Raising Heart!"
"Eeehh... really?" She rubbed the back of her head. "This is just so not what I need right now..."
"Who the hell is this freak!" Yuuno blinked as a tiny flying... thing appeared over the girls shoulder. It looked like some sort of doll or toy of some kind, made of soft yellow material in a vaguely feline shape and with tiny wings sewn on the back. Yuuno could honestly say he'd seen a lot of familiars in his time but this was a very strange one. "Listen pal, Sakura is already too busy fixing this other problem to get involved with you."
"Kero, don't be rude!" The girl turned back to Yuuno. "But he does kind of have a point. You see I let these cards go and now I have to kind of seal them away so it would be a lot of trouble to help you as well..."
"I... I see..." Yuuno ducked his head. "I understand, it's a lot to put on you, especially if you're already busy. I guess I'll have to find some way of doing it myself." He grit his teeth and tried to brace his shouler but being a ferret it didn't turn out to well. "Thank you very much for helping me the other day, Sakura-san."
"Ohhh.... Kero, do we have to turn him down?" Sakura turned to her familiar, clutching her fists under her chin as her eyes seemed to double in size and shinyness.
"Absolutely!" The flying doll-cat-thing made an X with his stubby little arms. "The Clow Cards are already too much danger. I refuse to let you take too many burdens on yourself."
At that point the decision was prompty taken out of all their hands as a nearby wall exploded outward, revealing a familiar swirling mass of shadow. Yuuno gasped and jumped back, only to wince as his injuries flared up. "Gah! Quick, give me Raising Heart. I'll hold it off while you two escape!"
Sakura looked down at Yuuna, then back at the Jewel-beast. Her eyes narrowed. "No." She clutched her hand tightly around the gem in her hand. "I'm sorry Kero, but I can't just let him get hurt!"
----Meanwhile, half a city away:
Fate resisted the urge to slump to her knees as she panted. Whatever that blasted thing had been, at least it was unconscious now. She glanced over at Arf, who had taken the brunt of the other wolf-like beasts attack when it had blindsided her on the rooftop. The woman, currently in her dog form, looked okay. The lightning bolts that made up the monsters form had left some burns but they weren't anything worse than Arf had gotten in sparing when Fate sometimes got overzealous. She should be fine in a few minutes. Still, nobody hurt Arf and got away with it. The only question was, what did she do with it now?
She pointed Bardiche at the slumped figure, a giant wolf-like shape made of blue electricity that sizzled as it lay against the concrete rooftop. Fighting a monster made of lightning with lightning spells had been an exercise in aggravation she did not want to repeat anytime soon. Still... while they had been fighting it had seemed as if the creature had been trying to run away. Maybe she had misjudged it? Had it meant to harm Arf, or simply been overzealous while trying to play with another magical dog? She grit her teeth but then lowered Bradiche. She just couldn't bring herself to finishing it off. How was she going to explain this to...
[Master, Sealing Mode]
She looked down at her device. "What was that?"
She tilted her head to the side. Well, it wasn't a Jewel Seed but maybe... "Very well." She pointed her device again as it reconfigured from attack mode to sealing mode. There was a flash of golden light, a strange circle Fate had never seen before formed around her feet. Before she could register what was happening the beast dissolved into a cloud of rapidly shrinking blue light which passed through the circle and formed in front of her. There it condensed into... a card?
[Receipt; The Thunder]
Fate gingerly picked the floating card out of the air. It was about as long as her forearm and had a picture of the beast she had fought on its front. On the back was a magical diagram she was unfamiliar with. One of the local languages was written across the bottm, showing the same name Bardiche had called it. Her frown deepened. She noticed that Arf was stirring. It was time to go. She could only hope that altough it wasn't a Jewel Seed, Mother would be happy with her for this...
