What sells it is that the spoken portion sounds like Garrus. Although I doubt he'd go solo again right after the Collector incident. He'd want to be in on the final accounting too much. Not to mention he clearly loves working with Shepard. 
Edit: Although... I'm not a fan of the third person present style. Third person past is the conventional way, and easier to read. The present style is jarring.
