From a novel titled "A Long Time Until Now" by Michael Z. Williamson, in which a small group of US soldiers driving in the rear of a military convoy thru modern Afghanistan suddenly find themselves stuck in paleolithic Afganistan (IE, roughly 10,000 BC, in between ice ages)
At one point they are having a party and, since they've been able to keep their cellphones and laptops charged via a portable solarpanel, they have music playing. 2 of the characters are on watch and comment on the music: Spencer (in his 40s) and Caswell (the younger of the 2 women in the unit)

Quote:Spencer asked, "What the hell is that whomp whomp sound?""Probably Skrillix," she said."Is that a band or a style?""That's the band. The genre is dubstep.""Oh, that's dubstep," he said. "I'd occasionally heard it, but never known the name.""Seriously?""Really.""What do you think of it?""It sounds like Optimus Prime fucking a dishwasher."She fell flat on her back in hysterics. Oh goddamn that was hilarious, and yet she could see it.___________________________
