She's a (modern) formula Spunky Heroine - it would be less horrified realization that everything she knew was wrong, and more facing up to all of the justifications she'd made/accepted for what he was doing were thin at best and mostly outright false, followed by not-so-comedic violence and playing a major role in her own rescue/the final takedown of Hans. The two sisters each having their own storyline (interwoven with the other) to be protagonist of is one of the things that's really nice about Frozen rather than one being solely relegated to a plot token marked "damsel, one, distressed." It would be a shame to lose that just because Elsa got the better iconic musical number.
