He is more than a butler, more than a valet. They are the left hand men, just out of sight until called upon, and always proactively serving their master. That said, I do believe that Reginald Jeeves may also qualify. The only difference being that there isn't much anything extraordinary about Bertie Wooster ( at least to my knowledge anyhow).
Another good example would be Herbert Arthur Runcible Cadbury, butler of Richie Rich. And we all know that he got into quite a few adventures.
