I think keeping it relatively short and sweet like the original cartoons would be the key - but then, it's not like there's any character growth in the Potterverse either except for stripping away Harry's moral objections to doing whatever it takes to push the I Win button. The house mascots idea has merit, but i think Foghorn Leghorn is better as Umbridge's replacement after Bugs hits his limit with her.
