There's a certain institutional fondness around here for fun crossover stories that don't take themselves too seriously. People around here read Bob's stories, naturally - these are after all his forums - but a lot of us also follow, say, Gryphon and his collaborators over at Eyrie, or individual fanfic writers like Vathara. Or if you prefer, writers who follow the general practice of throwing anything and everything from various pop culture and fictional sources into a blender and producing something fun at the end. Something that's often entertaining for readers even if they're unfamiliar with the original work. Which is probably an accomplishment in itself.
Then there's the fact many of us, perhaps even most of us here, were also City of Heroes players. One of the forum sections here reflects that, it's the subsection for our, well, obviously defunct supergroup. As a CoH player yourself, I'm guessing you'll appreciate the...spirit a lot of us have. I'm not sure I can quantify that in words, necessarily. EDIT: Actually, I probably can. It's the art of what I personally call 'lovingly ripping something off', and what other players would probably call 'homages' or 'expys'. Creating a character who's originally a version of something from another fictional source, but in the process of filing the serial numbers off, it manages to become something else in the creative process of adaptation.
Finally, you write well. Which encompasses a few things: actual quality of prose, natural-sounding dialogue, engaging characterisation, and so on. Also a lot of esoteric area knowledge, and you've demonstrated the ability to...if not actually be authoritative, then at least sound convincing when expounding on a wide range of fields and subjects. People appreciate that, I think.
