The entire thing doesn't make sense unless she either sees six in the initial group, you make changes elsewhere to account for her learning about a sixth or you have the sixth one come as a surprise. The easiest fix would be to change the first quote to "What I saw through the goggles was a group of six...". Do that and the numbers add up for the entire thing.
