Two years ago I stepped on a patch of black ice as I got out of my car in the parking lot at work. My feet went right out from under me and I smacked the back
of my head on the asphalt. A bad whack, complete with scalp wound and bleeding. My supervisor's first response was "let me take you to the
hospital". Fortunately, I was not injured any worse than that, but it was a scare. Better to have a professional look you over and tell you it's minor
than to assume it's not a big deal and then find out too late that it is.
