Further developments: In the last half hour a different recruiter has contacted me, and my resume/application is now going to be submitted for a vice president position at a major investment bank which shall for the moment remain nameless -- but which will pay me a fair bit more than I was making at Best. I have been assured that this is not a Hail Mary pass, but that I in fact closely fit said firm's ideal profile for a VP (which is, oddly, not necessarily a management position). So I am being restrainedly excited about this opportunity.
