Hey all;
We have darkling! Induction was started due to a low level of amniotic fluid. So the first step was insertion of a drug to aid in the dilation of cervix. I
am unsure of who this Cervix is, but am pretty sure she used to hang around with Asterix and Obelix.
As contractions began, (Cervix was softening - perhaps the music of Cacophonix - perhaps not) it was noted that Darkling's BP dropped and then rebounding
with each contraction. This is not a good thing. Cervix was not amused either. After three of these incidents, the decision was made to do the 'while
in Rome, do as the Roman's do'. No - we did not eat a swan and then have an orgy, but rather went for Caesarean. I suited up in scrubs - Cindy went
walkies to the OR. After several minutes I was told that my attendance was not allowed as the Epidural (Who probably got in an argument with Cervix over
gladiatorial matches) was not possible; Cindy was going under general (thankfully not Varus). I took a walk, and returned shortly to meet the Darkling - now
officially Robert Andrew Brett Dark (Working name: Andrew or Darkling). He was getting short arms inspection post birth, and was loud and lusty in his
commentary on the indignity of it. There was a thin cut along his forehead - probably from his own little hands - but to my eye it said 'Duelling
Scar'" Yep. This one is ours.
Cindy came out of the OR in the company of three dwarves. Sleepy, Dopey and Grumpy - and her belly had the look you only get after participating in act III of
the Life of Mishima.
Andrew weighs in at 9lb 4oz; and looks like he can punch his own weight.
Mother and child are doing well.
Bolo is at doggy day care being happily molested by the staff there - so he is doing well too.
All the best,
Shayne, Cindy, Andrew
(And yes his initials are RABD so GAAAAAAH!)
