Awesome game. I've played 1st playthrough with Sniper and Soldier, and have worked my way a good chunk into my Playthrough 2 on both. I've also started
a Brick (but haven't played him much) and gotten to about 25 on a Siren.
Some hints from me:
1) It's tempting to keep one of each weapon type. Don't. On a sniper, for example, keep 1 sniper rifle, 1 revolver, and one repeater pistol (I prefer
bullet-hose variants of the repeaters) and 1-2 other weapons just in case. On your second playthrough, when you have inventory space to burn, then it's not
a bad idea.
2) Your class skills tell you what weapons to specialize in. For example, on a soldier, it's pretty blatantly clear you should be focusing on Combat Rifles
first, Shotguns second, and everything else third. On a siren, SMGs. On a Sniper, Sniper Rifles, Revolvers, and Pistols. On a Brick, well, FISTS.
3) It's tempting to look at damage numbers only, and forget the elementals. Bad idea. Especially on the Fire/Shock/Corrosive weapons, a less powerful
weapon with a 'Very High Elemental Effect' chance, even if it's only x1, will do *much* more damage. It might take marginally longer.
Can't say enough great things about this game.
