Well... just about a thirty centimetres brought this country to near a halt for over a week. There's still an inch or more of solid compacted ice on some footpaths, and near some roads... even though most of the snow has been gone for two days now.
The councils didn't even spread grit sometimes.... because if they gritted and someone slipped on the slush they'd be held legally responsible. Whereas all the people slipping on nature's ice.... it was their own fault. The stuff is lethal, and it's been compacted harder than concrete by all the people walking over it.
Never mind that all the water pipes around the town are bursting from the cold.... which means pressure's dropping and cut off overnight. I just love how competent our local authorities are.
