For cold weather, I don't tolerate the bitter, wet, and windy conditions too well... unfortunately those are the conditions I most frequently have to deal with. Fortunately, I have an ace up my sleeve. My warm-weather heritage means that I tend to pump out more BTUs than the average guy - in short, I have a more efficient cooling system. This means that in cold weather I can turn it to my advantage and get away with wearing fewer layers, especially if the big five are properly covered (feet, hands, head).
However, the wet, nasty, bitterly cold stuff will still require specialized gear.
