Well if it's like my iPad, the instructions are both a bookmark in safari and a ebook in iBook.

Still all a this could be down to one thing: all iPxd devices should have a complete power cycle regularly performed on them. So that means if you just been sleeping it, you need to actually do a complete power down. That's hold that button down till the red power off slider comes on the screen.
