What can I say, I like the games, and the HUDs are mostly in English... MTF Dating Sim Mode is made of loathing, though. If you want to set one of your unused alt color schemes to be me to blow away in freeplay mode or for a wingman, Green Bananas Squadron's main colors are based on the top row yellow preset, one or two clicks greener, and at half saturation, with magenta optics in whichever combination looks better, while Red Wreckers is one or two clicks from the left end of the color bar with full saturation and brightness with trim one or two clicks left from the yellow preset and green optics. Grape Nuts is the second-row purple one from the right, at full saturation and with the brightness up a tad, with trim five clicks right from yellow, orange optics, and any third color (not optics) set to nearly-black dark grey. Yes, they are all very bright and eyecatching, that's because a black plane is hard to fly 3rd person in a space mission, and it makes it easy to see which "allied army" is your wingman to try to get close enough to use the "heal yourself and nearby allies" command skills. My favorite mecha are the VF-14/Fz-109/AZ-130 family, VF-5000T/G (which makes a great Grape Nuts Squadron plane with the black on the legs) VF-25G, VF-2SS, and VF-4.
I'm annoyed at how weak they made the Metal Siren from Macross II, and Silvie Gina's stats, though - the MS is supposed to be the VF-2SS's replacement, but the 2SS SAP is the second strongest plane in the game right behind the VF-25S with Tornado Pack while the MS is a middle-tier unit, and only barely there when you consider that most of the other craft have some kind of Pack to basically double their HP while the MS has the weapons and boosters built in, but no compensation for the lack of added armor. For a new top-shelf fighter from thirty years in an alternate future that' kind of disappointing, and doesn't make sense when it's supposed to exceed the 2SS in every respect, which it only barely does even without considering the Super Armor Pack. Likewise, Silvie Gina, top ace of the Solar System with only the possible exception of Nexx, should at least be in the same league as Roy Fokker or Max, not putzing around at Kakizaki's level.
As for the Gundam games, I haven't actually played them since I'm still working my way through the Macross side, but they were sold in a batch and use the same combat engine, so why not? At least a few Gundams don't suck, though from quick glances at the FAQs these may well not include the Airmaster or Ashtaron from X, which are really the only ones I actually like much, and if the Taurus from Wing is in there it's not likely to be more than a lame Enemy Mission unit. And of course, none of them have a GERWALK-like mode, which is what I spend most of my non-melee time in with the Macross games.
