....Valve....it's that time of year...

Get it.
I bought all three of them at different times- Morrowind before it became a bargain-bin title, Oblivion the week it came out, and Skyrim on preorder.  Morrowind is more complex than any of the others, allowing you (for example) to create basically any spell you want from the effects in the game, or enchant any piece of equipment (of which there are more types than later games) with a wider range of effects.  It has a good bit more of a learning curve, and is stupidly broken when you figure out a number of gambits, but if you can get into it, it has the sort of ridiculous immersion/attention-grabbing quality Skyrim has.
Oblivion... doesn't.  It's pretty, by comparison, and it definitely has its moments, but it sacrifices the openness and complexity of TES3, and the graphics didn't age all that well.  The game holds your hand more than the previous one did, but there aren't as many types of weapons and armor, there are fewer spells and enchantments to create, and the game just feels more constricted.  Leveling up can be anything from a slight benefit to a genuine downgrade, depending on how you do it and what sort of character you have, which is sort of ridiculous.  Still a good game overall, but time spent playing TES4 is time that could've been spent playing one of the other two, and that's a loss in my book.
Skyrim fixes a lot of the things Oblivion did wrong.  The game world has a lot less of the uncanny valley I saw in Oblivion.  They fixed leveling, and created a downright inspired world to explore.  The game is still simpler, as far as magic/enchanting goes, and they streamlined/dumbed down (depending on your point of view) a few other aspects of older games, but I found myself less than annoyed with that.  I was too busy enjoying the world.  That's the one aspect that Morrowind had, and Oblivion didn't- a world that sucks you in, makes you want to keep playing, and rewards your persistence with fun.
Buy the pack, mod the heck out of ALL OF THEM, and then play 3 and 5.  If you're ever lacking on great games to play, go back to 4.

I've been writing a bit.
