If he's CRANKY, that's GOOD. Bitching and moaning and whining about shit is one the best possible signs in my book!
I'd like to think that he -surprised- them by waking up before they had him scheduled to, but there's nothing said about that yet so don't make assumptions.

Gryph's mom called me again, he had a dramatic turn around overnight. While last night she said they expected to keep him in the induced coma for at least two days, apparently he woke up this morning. It wasn't clear if they deliberately brought him out of it or if he woke up on his own despite the induction, but either way he's awake.
Apparently he woke up and wanted the breathing tube out, which I can understand, I'm sure it isn't comfortable. So they turned off the ventilator first and he did OK on his own, so they did remove the tube. His mom says he's pretty cranky, which isn't really a surprise for those who know him.
They are allowing visitors. He's still in the ICU and it sounds like he'll be there another day or two before they move him to a normal floor. Something like the tower, 8th floor, section C, room 58 if I'm remembering correctly. I'm going to be heading into Boston shortly.
