Yes - in many cases they're simply using the CG as a guide for the hand drawn stuff. But then again, they're also using the CG to fill in stuff on hand drawn too.
It's one of the best possible blendings of the two techniques I've ever seen. The only other thing I can think of that reminds me of it is The Iron Giant. |
