I suppose you could get by with some Atlases, since it's a scout lance.  Maybe.  It's a bit light for a scout lance, though- you'll want some decently large 'mechs to go with them.
This is why the BT/Macross fic on SB has people saying the Lyrans would LOVE the Monster.
As to actual advice, sadly I have none.  I've only a little BT experience, meself.
