I can't speak for the Seagate ones in particular, but I can tell you why you might want one:
Solid State drives are great for putting your OS and frequently used programs on, because they have a much greater read/write time than Disk drives. Storage capacity still pales in comparison to Disk drives, which is the main reason they haven't completely taken over the market. So you'll still want a disk drive if you want more than 64/128GB of space. But they make things go really fast, booting in particular.
