I tend to explain the Android/Iphone dichotomy in the following way:

Iphone: More secure, easier to use. Better for non-tech people and for those who want something that works easily. Tends to have less option to what can be put on it. You have to deal with Apple stuff to use it. Tends to be costlier. Very solid, from my experience (I dropped my a dozen times while on my bike, and scratches were the only issue).

Android: More open, more options. Better for tech people. Mainly for people who want a pocket computer instead of an actual (multi-tool) phone. Can be cracked in multiple way. Battery tends to last longer.

After that, it depends on your own preferences.
