Lockers in a school aren't that sturdy so it should be plausible that in a sufficiently panicked state a teenaged girl can break a locker open from the inside, and both the physical strength part and the increased toughness part were phrased for minimal detectibility and maximum plausibility when discovered as a result of fight or flight response.
