My current challenge is trying to write a sociopath who thinks he's a Bond villain without going completely cartoony.  It's... interesting.

It'd be easier if you had his powers; then you could just write two different versions and collapse the timeline where your prereader says it's too over-the-top. Or am I thinking of the wrong sociopath?
