Well, having a laser on your head is practical for archeolgy. It means you don't have to keep badgering Aziz to stay awake and reflect light inside with one of the gold platters, and when the ancient astronauts show up to keep you from meddling with their advanced psychic technology you have a better option than a broomhandle Luger.
