For our twintailed girl, Chiyo-chan, how about Halloween dressed as Nanoha Takamachi? (Though I have to admit, Chiyobits was a cute idea too.)
In a lot of ways, that's a more obvious comparison. But it also suffers from the the problem that there are a lot more than four states of matter, even a couple that are in your house: glass and liquid crystal. OK, I guess maybe you can look at this like the paraelemental planes, but it's a little harder to shoehorn in degenerate matter, Bose-Einstein condensates, and whatever dark matter is. Then again, I'm eliding over W/Z differences and the chromodynamics of the strong nuclear force too.
