I wonder if accepting foreign donations needs to be punished on two sides; one, on the political party's side, equal to the sum times the relevant election's official's years in office, including those from the new term. So if there's a 4 year term for a new MP and the donation is 50 000 Australian dollars it now costs the party 200 000 Australian dollars.
For the donor I wouldn't mind one whit if it's more expensive, to the count of a percentage of their global income equal to the percentage of the vote the relevant official/party received in the election.
It won't ever happen, but you'd be surprised how fast foreign organisations stop being a problem when getting caught means utter ruin. [b]No[/n] organisation can really afford losing 10% or more of a given year's income for a single count.
