I don't think it's a matter of forbidding people to eat meat. It is a matter of meat packing plants being the perfect environment for SARS-COV-2 to spread like wildfire. If workers stop showing up or if the plants become such vectors of disease that they can’t run, the possibility of actual food shortages in many core parts of the American diet is far from impossible.
