Actually, that's not fair to the woman, who didn't actually ask a stupid question, just phrased a reasonable one ambiguously.
I took advantage of Peggy doing that once... This was, oh, at least ten years or so ago, which means I may have already told this story here... if so, stop me.
No? Okay, then. <grin>
We were at the local Home Depot, in the garden section, looking at flower pots. I was about fifteen feet away from her and spotted a rather attractive concrete Grecian urn. We already had (still have) a "three graces" pedestal that we wanted to put one on in the back yard. "Hey, Peg, a Greek urn!" I called out.
Without turning toward me, she kind of distractedly asked, "What's a Greek urn?" (Meaning, in her usual way, "what and where in all of this stuff did you see a Greek urn?")
Of course I couldn't pass up the perfect setup for an old joke, so I promptly replied, "Oh, about ten drachmas an hour." Which prompted a woman shopping near us to laugh out loud, and for Peg to give me a disgusted "Oh, Booooooob."
