I stopped and stared. I'd intended to just grab a quick meal, at one of the typical knock-offs of familiar fast-food chains that I'd run into in so many worlds. Then I'd taken a second look at the guy behind the counter and every mental alarm I had went off. This was no human, this was a demon, at least on a par with Mara, by the feel of him.
