The official name of the place was Park Row, and it contained both the Monarch Theater and Dr. Leslie Thompkin's practice and home (and presumably a park, since she was supposed to have been one of the original inhabitants when the place was developed, unless it was named that because it replaced the park.) The Wayne murder was apparently the turning point for when the slowly fading district took a sharp turn for the worse, as the bad publicity drove away custom from the legitimate businesses in a death spiral.
