Yep. I suspect it was the same time they blocked flagfic.

Indeed they've been running with that for a while now at least since the last quarter of last year.  There was a post on flagfics page (site currently down) with an email exchange with ffnets admins claiming they did it to protect their writers rights. A good account of what happened is here :

Using NoScript is one workaround another is using the RightToClick plugin  in firefox as a work around.
