I started thinking that the Ptolemies ruled Egypt for 300 years -- wouldn't they have have become Egyptian in that time?  Well, in order to fit in with the locals, they took up the custom of incestuous royal marriage.  They took being Pharoah very seriously, I guess.  So aside from a marriage to a Seleucid (Greek) and a Macedonian (Greek) that I could find, they were all in the same line, and all Macedonian.  And in all that time, the only one who bothered to learn the Egyptian language is Cleopatra VII Philopator, the one we all know who hung out with Caesar and Antony.

Whether she was Egyptian or not is kind of an unanswerable question, since cultures are granfaloons anyway.
