Both to increase recording time, and obviate the effectiveness of the camera. The objective, in most installations where the camera is not directly facing valuable product, and is there for the 'protection' of the shoppers rather than the property, it's guaranteed to the shit.
Otherwise when something goes wrong the rentacops would be forced to testify with the video in court which would cause trouble for the local scumbags, which means they're more likely to cause serious trouble for the property owners.
The cameras protecting the owners are always razor sharp. But the scum know not to get caught by them. They get away with it because they don't threaten what actually matters.
I love the smell of rotaries in the morning. You know one time, I got to work early, before the rush hour. I walked through the empty carpark, I didn't see one bloody Prius or Golf. And that smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole carpark, smelled like.... ....speed.
One day they're going to ban them.
