2D nodded and drank his tea in silence. He looked troubled. Snake stayed silent, giving him space to sort things out. They moved out to the back porch so that Trini could do her business, and sat together wrapped in a blanket against the morning cold. The air smelled heavy with moisture and the bite of frost. Eventually 2D said, “It doesn’t bother me but it bothers me that it doesn’t bother me. Does that make sense?”
