If any of you or people you know have or are considering getting joint replacements, I highly suggest talking to your doctor about buying spares of any parts like that and storing them privately. Like, two or even three sets, to long outlast however long you expect to live with their normal service life (20yrs is a good bet, though the one from the 80s has held up better than the one from the 90s in Dad's specific case.)
