Ladies, gentlemen, and others of AO3, this is what we call "Early Installment Weirdness". This story was originally written long before we came up with various plotlines that only work if the characters do sound like their seiyuu. As for why we haven't changed the story, Rob Kelk points out that Rob Donaldson occasionally gets things wrong; while he's my self-insert, he doesn't know everything that I as the writer know. Besides, almost nobody ever thinks that they sound like recordings of themselves.
