A quartet of youthful, non-standard, shinobi terrapins, or something close to that, are stuck in the Big Apple and want Green Lantern’s help. She’s busy, but she knows a fellow teen in that city who could use a new training exercise. And who also loves pizza.

A massive wash of energy ran down the braided Eufiber cable from the main reactor. Power raced into the chamber. Thomas Calvert's mind expanded in ways he never could have imagined. For a brief second, he heard his own voice ringing out with peels of laughter.

“You're a cat person,” Rachel said with mild disdain.

“Actually, no. I preferred dogs but they were too good for me. When my dog Buddy was dying it awakened my powers. The first thought I felt was a dog's. Do you know what Buddy felt?”

“Pain? Anger?”

“Hope and Sadness. Hope that he had done well enough. That his little human friend was going to be safe. Terrible sadness that he wasn't able to do more. That he would have to go and I would be alone. I just can't bring myself to ask any dog to do more. They give so much willingly.”

Rachel noticed tears welling in John's eyes.

“And cats?”

“Oh, their little assholes. Everything they do is because they think it will be more fun than not. Friendly little assholes not completely selfish but definitely self-centered. I deserve them. They deserve me. No one deserves dogs.”

A powerful impact struck the back of Ravager's skull several more hammered into her back. Gunshots, only one Undersider was known for using a gun.

Spinning she launched herself at the new threat. Tattletale caught the charge on her own riot shield. She backpeddled from the force of Ravager's strike.

“Bonesaw does good work. But how many more hits before we crack that reinforced skull? Two? Three? Grue and I have a bet.” The smart-ass Thinker taunted.

This time Amy took the offer. She placed her hand into his. Something felt right about it, something was flowing between them.

“Well, you definitely have a mental block. It was implanted into your Neotic template. It can be weakened over time if it’s not reinforced. This isn’t a permanent ban it’s a temporary gag order.” Hector opined.

“I feel- Me”

“Yes you have the same power templates I do Biokinetics and Vitakinetics. I can teach you to use them. It might take some work to separate what you can do verse your Parahuman powers.”

And, first but not least, it turns out there are two new chapters of In the Raptor's Claws: Earth, Romulus, and the War that Birthed the Federation, Galorndon Core: Shran, Archer, and Valdore and Galorndon Core: "Sink the Praetor!"

Captain Sisko, the hero of the Dominion War, once opined that bad news invariably comes in the middle of the night. It was as true at Galorndon Core as it would be over two hundred years later. At 0347 ship time on August 10, 2157, Admiral Archer was stirred from his slumber by the blaring of red alert klaxons across the Enterprise.(fn9) Archer would later claim that the alarms brought him something approximating relief, saying:

I’d become almost accustomed to the sound of Red Alert. It was an old, familiar friend from my days as captain of the Enterprise, perhaps the last such old friend I had on that ship as an admiral. Hearing the alarm also meant that we didn’t have to wait anymore to find out what horrible thing the Romulans had planned for us. We were going to find out, and every man, woman, and alien under my command would do their duty.(fn10)
