Briar looked around in mild confusion, it had been her first day of highschool, she had struggled with her speech impediment, but the school provided an aid to translate her sign language to the class, but after her first day, Alicia and Caroline, along with their lovers had decided to take her out to celebrate.... She had no idea why? It was just her first day.
She watched as the waitress put down a large platter of Nachos, the smell of melted cheese made her stomach grumble as Caroline slapped her on the back. "You did good niece... Well, you are sort of my niece, even if we are roughly the same age, but that's not uncommon here with cloning and alternate dimensions. Also, thanks for using Katie's last name, me and Alicia catch some shit for being cousins in the same class." She explains.
Briar nodded, it had taken a week if arguing with Neph, but she had eventually agreed to use Douglas as a last name instead of Seraph, seeing as the Seer was also like a mother figure to her, but getting grief over sharing a last name seemed childish.... But she had learnt that some of her class mates where childish, one tried putting tacks on her seat when she had stepped to the front of the class to write an answer on the black board.
She had dealt with the prank easily, she just collected the metal tacks and using her earth control, crushed them into a small orb which she pocketed, much to some students annoyance. There was also the guy that tried hitting on her while her aid was in the bathroom, leaving her without a translator, but luckily Alicia stepped in, the tifling scaring off the creep before he could drag her off somewhere.... School was strange.
[Will every day be like this?] She asked, hands moving to convey her message.
Alicia nods. "You are the new kid, centre of attention.... But it will die off when they find something else to take interest in, like the latest scandal, like who got busted dealing weed or which if the cheerleaders is pregnant this week, normal stuff." She says as she scoops a corn chip drenched in salsa and cheese, taking a satisfied bite. "Oh straight to my hips but soooo good."
Briar took this as a sign to eat, grabbing herself a corn chips and biting down with her crystal teeth, the taste was.... Strange, not bad, but strange. She never had spicy food before, but the combo of cheese and sour cream was not bad, just different. [It goes to your hips?] She asked.
Caroline laughs. "See, Alicia is what we call dummy thicc."
The tifling smiled. "Proud of it... And Seiji likes it, don't ya?"
The cat boy gives a weak chuckle. "What can I say, I like a full figured woman."
The teens laughed, Briar joining in with her croaking rasp, Caroline's plus one leaning in, the goth peering out from under her thick fringe on black. "Does it hurt? The gemstones I mean?"
Caroline gasped. "You can't just ask that.... Can you?"
Briar waved a hand before signing. [Sometimes, I have growths all over, some on my hip, my teeth are replaced by crystal and my eyes are.... Sort of crystal? It's complicated, but the main pain is it hurts to talk as there is a slight growth on my vocal cords and they rub when I talk.]
Jess frowned. "You poor thing, do they... Like, give you medication for it.
Briar shakes her head. [It is not deliberating, so no medical aid, I just have to be careful not to chat and how I move at times.] She took another corn chip and chews down on it.
Jess looked mildly offended. "You have painful crystals growing in you and no one helps? That sounds bullshit, you should take it up with your doctor!"
Caroline smiles. "Down girl, can't fight al, the injustices of the world.... And if she is using the same family doctor we are, she might get help."
Jess grumbles into her soda As the conversation turned to plans for the weekend, Briar watching the lovers talk, holding hands... She was not sure she could do such a thing yet... But maybe one day she thought as the five if them ate through the nacho platter.
Finishing up, Alicia and Seiji excused themselves, they where heading to Seiji's father's dojo to train, leaving Briar with Caroline and Jess. [Want to visit my place? It's not far.] She offered.
The two looked at each other before Jess spoke. "Yeah, you didn't talk much about your family, so it be nice to meet them." Caroline nodded her approval and so they headed off.

Vanguard Safe House.
Briar opened the door to her home and waved the other two in, Jess looking in awe at the seeres floating around, having hush conversations. "Your family are Praetorian?" She asked in a whisper.
[Yes, that won't be a problem will it?]
Jess shook her head. "No, I never met anyone from another world before."
Caroline elbowed her. "Yes you have, my sister Gir?"
Jess shook her head. "Yeah but she is normal, these are seeres, they are like, high end psyonics, it's amazing." She said in a whispered tone.
Stepping into the hallway was a woman who's age was hard to tell, she had a youthful face, but her eyes... Her eyes where old, that and her mess of hair was stark white. Briar runs up and hugs her. "Hi mom." She croaked out before letting go and turning around. [This is one of my mother's, Katie Douglas, current seer prime of Paragon and helping to rehabilitate other Seeres.] She explains.
Katie smiles. "Caroline I know, but who is our other guest?"
[Oh, this is Jessica Holmes, head of track and field and Caroline's girlfriend.]
The seer nods. "Pleasure to meet you miss Holmes, welcome to our home, care to join us for dinner? It's pizzas."
All the other Seeres spoke in unison. "Pizza."
Katie scolded. "What have I taught you about that girls, no syncing, we are not in the network anymore."
There was a course of sorries as Katie turned back. "So what do you say?"
