All The Tropes Wiki Project, Part XXXI
RE: All The Tropes Wiki Project, Part XXXI
Prefacing this by saying I’m not really familiar beyond a surface level with Miraheze infrastructure - cyber or otherwise.

It wouldn’t be a bad idea to maintain backups outside the USA, or even North America, regardless of political ongoings. Being dispersed across a large geographic area is an excellent bulwark against a number of potential threats. I know some people on /r/datahoarders would probably be interested in such a dataset, if they knew it existed.

I believe AllTheTropes is the only troping wiki that has been hosted outside the USA in the past (Wasn’t the wiki farm that hosted it based out of the UK for a time?). If censorship from the American Government becomes an issue, it would be preferable to move out in my opinion. Higher profile projects like Wikimedia would be the first to go, and would be a good canary in the coal mine to look out for. There is potential movement against Wikimedia by the American government now (Signpost article), so it’s something to keep an eye on.
