In a world borne On The Shoulders Of Titans (all kaiju are true), the saga of Pretender Kings concludes with the tale of The Adversary.

The rightfulness of a monarch is an all-together nebulous subject.

Is it found in the blood that flows through their veins? Or in the supporters whose allyship has been earned?
Is the right to rule for those who can vanquish usurpers by their own strength? Or for those who know not all battles can be won alone?
Is it found in the wellbeing of their subjects? Or in the justice imparted upon those who hurt them?
Must a ruler be wise? Or must they be willing to unlearn their foolishness?

And what, pray tell, is the rightfulness of a monarch, when the contender before them is no lesser or greater of a claimant?

Notes:
So, the final chapter of this Kong-centric miniseries has finally arrived.
And, as could not be in any other way, this grand finale is all about KK's relationship with his undeniable archenemy...

So, this was Pretender Kings.

I really enjoyed drawing out the themes of this story, although I suspects it may be a better read when all put together instead of on a bi-monthly basis. Still, the idea of writing Kong and Gorosaurus as both usurper and rightful at the same time was deeply appealing to me, exploring how alien they both are, and yet how they have become the unwilling co-rulers of this hell-on-earth. A rivalry that isn't about morals or worthiness, but a dichotomy so ancient it has seeped into the soil.

All in all, I hope it was a fun read and that I did justice to Big Monke and his cast of foes. Would love to hear which chapter was people's favourite, and specially which scene in the final one was your fave!
