I think there's another instance of that kind of plot hole in Halloween 1. Kickstand Cottage is so named in its section, but IIRC it doesn't get recognized by that name for at least another week. Hane says in Halloween 4 something to the effect that the managers have only recently started calling their place that.
As for the narrator, I think Princess Irulan didn't have an hourly day planner handy when she was composing her great history of Refuge. <grin>
