So... about halfway between our place and Princeton there's a building with a sign reading "Robo Sous Chef". It's been there for a couple years now, and despite being intensely curious I kept forgetting to look it up on the Web when I got home... until yesterday. And when I did, I couldn't help but think of Washuu mentioning her autokitchen in Greetings from Minnesota!
Because that's exactly what they make and sell:
Their YouTube channel has a lot more, including short videos of their "Cheetah" model cooking various dishes. (Mostly Chinese, because the machines are made in China and they have a substantial installed base there, apparently.)
It's not 100% automated -- you do have to slice and chop the ingredients before loading them into the machine -- but once you do it's basically fire-and-forget.
What's really interesting is that even though most of the videos are clearly targeting the food service industry, at least one suggests that they're also planning on marketing it as a consumer-level appliance as well. The page on their website for the Cheetah model actually shows it in a home kitchen. The site also has a lot of other interesting information -- except for prices.
