Indeed, one of the Bolo stories I remember has three 'outdated' models (mk25, IIRC, around the intruduction of the mk28) defend against an entire alien invasion fleet by themselves, shooting down ships in orbit with their main guns and then mopping up what troop shuttles managed to offload with only minor assistance from the locval squishies, mainly in the role of finding the enemy and maintaining contact until the nearest bolo could get there to take care of business.
