Most people do forget them; they don't play that much of a role in any of the retellings. The Indians didn't even make an appearance in "Hook", ten years or so back -- probably due to politcal correctness issues.

As for the Post-Modern Post-Adolescent Disorder, it's the medical term for people who (And I quote) "Don't want to grow up."
