Luna's characterization is actually based on Nina Avins, mostly how she was three years ago when she was four, but with seasoning from current Nina, who is a powerfully imaginative child -- so much so that I'm simply lost dealing with her at times. As story-period Nina is a more mature 12, I suspect I'll be porting a lot of existing real Nina into Luna...
Oh, and this weekend past (3/9-3/11), Peggy and I went down to visit the Avinses (and the Pinkham) at their new place in West Viriginia. I am delighted to report that it is almost exactly as I'd imagined it, with the main difference being the proportion of field to forest, and the proximity of the houses. (They're farther apart than I expected.)
Also, someone this weekend pointed out (I can't remember who now) three things that just have to go into the story: 1) That in order to get all the land for the ship, we're going to have to buy a somewhat larger squarish parcel of land; 2) that after the GC lifts, it's going to leave a divot that's deeper than the local water table and as such is going to fill up and become a lake; and 3) that we will then be sole owners of all that brand-new lakefront property...
