You'd be surprised at the wide libertarian streak in many librarians' personalities - after all, their professions depend on getting people to think for themselves to the extent that they'll want to read.
But, yes, I can see where a faction filled with librarians might be confusing... even if they would be the most likely ones to duplicate the Library Island from Negima!
