This is possible; but there may be an element of intent in either or both phases of operation. Something being "fed to" a chunk of handwavium will get turned into more handwavium, handwavium "fed to" something will biomod/otherwise alter it.
Simply dumping it may have an intent of its own - disposal - that may trigger the handwavium to simply neutralize itself.--
